Mateos relationship with his pacifier was very short , he never really got the hang of it, but I had just started my business so he would have his pacifier clip handy all the time.
Around 5 months old lots of drooling, achy gums, fussiness started showing up and guess what ? The pacifier clip became his obsession, he would soothe his gums with it for hours and if you’ve gone through this stage you won’t let me lie that babies need to be chewing on something most of the time to feel relieved, And so the first teething ring was made for Mateo who had a very rough time with the first four.
As teething stage can be an uncomfortable time for baby and mommies, the more you know about it, the more you can help your baby get through it.
Most babies will start teething between 6 and 12 months old. Some of the symptoms that will let you know your babies teething process has started are:
- Drooling
- Fussiness
- Slight temperature elevation; however, according to a 2016 study in Pediatrics, a true fever (temperature over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or 38 degrees Celsius) is not associated with teething.
- Skin Rash
- Loss of appetite
- Trouble Sleeping
I feel you moms, teething isn’t fun but luckily there are different options that can help it make it easier:
- Massage his/her gums by gently rubbing them with your clean finger in circular motions.
- Cool a Metal Spoon, gently rub the back of the spoon against your baby’s gums.
- Constantly wipe drool to prevent irritation on his face.
- Teething Toys: Something to chew on is sometimes one of the only natural teething remedies baby really needs to get through the pain of teething. (Take a look at our teething rings, our icy teether can be on the fridge for 30 minutes so its cool and chill when giving it to your little ones)
- Bath Time: The warm water in the bath will help your baby to relax their body and provides a welcome distraction from the constant discomfort.
- Medication: If you’re concerned that your baby’s teething discomfort cannot be soothed by any of the above methods, consult your doctor or pediatrician for advice on using medication.
Remember every baby is different, and they might have all of the symptoms or just a few and as I always said to myself “ It’s just a stage” and things will go back to normal. Don’t forget to give your tiny Tam Tam’s lots of cuddles and love!
